VFW DAY OF SERVICE

Day of Service 
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the Fairport VFW is organizing a cemetery clean-up day at St. Mary's Cemetery in the Town of Perinton. Perinton has nine community cemeteries in its jurisdiction, containing over 7,400 monuments, many of which are veterans, leading all the way back to the Civil War.
It will take us five years to complete all nine cemeteries with approximately 100 volunteers per day of service. This is a significant undertaking that will require strong community involvement to be successful.
With sufficient volunteer participation, and with preparatory work being handled in advance by the VFW, we believe this project can be completed efficiently in a single day. This event offers an excellent opportunity for civic groups, youth organizations, church groups and the general public to engage in meaningful community service, honor local history and veterans, and work together toward a shared civic goal.

SPONSORS NEEDED:
 
We are seeking sponsors to offset the cost of monument cleaner (D2 Biological Solution), protective equipment, buckets, brushes, pump sprayers, etc. 
American Equipment has donated the use of a water bull
D2 Biological Solutions has donated a 5 gallon bucket of solution and is arranging a discount for the rest of his product at a supplier. D2 Bio is approved for use by the National Cemetery Administration and has been used on many National monuments and buildings throughout the United States.
 
Our estimates are that we will need to raise approximately $7,000 to cover the costs of the aforementioned items, with the D2 Bio being the largest cost, but should last us the entire length of the project.
